A little while ago we have told you almost everything we know about the Kia Stinger and now it's about enjoying a generous image gallery and more details ....
In an event typically dominated by North American car showings, today Kia Motors America (KMA) has been the center of attention with the world debut of the new Kia Stinger 2018 during the North American International Auto Show.
Immediately recognizable as a direct evolution of the concept that preceded it - the Kia GT -, the new design of the Kia Stinger was overseen by Peter Schreyer, chief designer of Kia Motors, and his team of designers in Frankfurt. Albert Biermann, Kia's director of vehicle testing and high performance, and his group of engineers in Korea have been tasked with tweaking it on the exhausting Nürburgring race circuit.
Its "fastback" design combines perfectly with purely functional elements such as "gills", generous wheel arches or the rear diffuser integrated under the bumper that also mounts four fully integrated exhaust outlets.
What if we go with the main details?
- Although the engines are still being adjusted, the access Stinger will have a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine Theta II, which will produce about 255 hp at 6,200 rpm. The maximum torque of 362 Nm is available between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm. The 3.3-liter V6 biturbo -Lambda II- will develop about 365 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and will offer a maximum of 509 Nm of torque from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm. As a curiosity, Kia wants to cover the 0 to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds with the V6 biturbo.
- The Stinger has the second generation of the eight-speed gearbox just like the K900. Drivers will be able to opt for the automatic change or the change of cams. Suspension response, engine behavior and steering hardness can be configured thanks to the 5 modes available.
- The AWD system incorporates a new dynamic torque vector control system "Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control" that supervises the layout and conditions of the firm and accordingly, applies the brakes selectively in order to maintain the perfect layout. Rear-wheel drive models feature a limited slip differential to help distribute power evenly.
- The 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder models feature high-performance 225/45 R18 tires while the 3.3-liter V6 is fitted with 225/40 R19 tires at the front and 255/36 R19 at the front rear. Vented Brembo disc brakes are standard on V6 mechanics and feature four-piston front calipers and dual piston rear calipers.
- The Sitnger will mount multiple and advanced driver assistance systems as the monitoring and warning system that informs the driver when it is time to take a break, the front collision assistance system with integrated stand-alone emergency brake, pedestrian detection , Intelligent cruise control, the lane maintenance aid system or the cross-traffic alert system, among others.
- The Stinger will hit the market with the latest information and entertainment systems. Among these we find a Head-Up Display (HUD) system that allows the driver to see the most important information projected onto the windshield.
- Kia will offer high-performance audio systems designed to turn the interior into a concert hall. The base audio system features six speakers and a seven-inch touchscreen. The standard system increases the number of speakers to nine and includes an external amplifier. The Harman / Kardon®7 audio system features 15 speakers, with the first subwoofers tucked under the seats, a Clari-Fi ™ 8 system and QuantumLogic ™ 9 surround sound technology.
