Sales 2016, Italy: The national product devastates

During the last year 2016 registrations of new vehicles in Italy increased by 15.82% compared to the previous year, reaching a total volume of 1,824,968 units delivered to new customers.

Despite the good recovery of the Italian market in 2016, the overall figures are still far from those before the economic crisis. Some analysts believe that in 2017 registrations will continue to rise, albeit at a slower pace.

As usual in this country, the products of national firm have a high pull. Fiat managed to place five models among the most demanded, highlighting without a doubt the excellent data of the Panda. Lancia on the other hand has in the Ypsilon a true ally, improving even the obtained figures during the previous year. It is a shame that there are no medium-term plans for the brand at the international level.

Among foreigners, Volkswagen and Ford shine above the rest. The German does with the good figures of Polo and Golf while Ford has in the Fiesta its main product claim. As a curiosity we must mention the excellent reception that has had the EcoSport in Italy, much higher than the European average. The Focus in its Wagon version also sells a lot.

Premium signatures remain at the usual levels although it is surprising that there is not one model among the top 25. To find it you have to go down to the 30th place, place that occupies the Mercedes Class A with 16,349 units.
